Tributo a Helena Fitzgerald – Borderfame Kennel

Parlare di un amica che non è più con noi, non è facile, perché si è coinvolti emotivamente. Cercherò di essere più distaccata possibile ma, sono sicura che mi scuserete se non riuscirò a nascondere completamente le mie emozioni.

Helena Fitzgerald, nasce in Irlanda, la passione per i cani emerge sin da bambina, inizia, come molti di noi, a praticare agility dog con il suo meticcio.

Conosce poi il mondo dell’obedience grazie al suo “rescue” di pastore tedesco. Recuperando questo cane difficile, con amore e dedizione, ottiene i massimi risultati anche in questa disciplina.

É strano, per me, raccontare il suo percorso, perché ho seguito il suo stesso sentiero; assurde casualità e coincidenze che si sovrappongono senza conoscersi e poi , dopo anni, sfociano in una grande amicizia.

Comunque, ritorno al pensiero di te…

Dopo la perdita di questo grande pastore tedesco arriva il primo Border Collie, un “working sheep dog“, con il quale ottenne i massimi risultati nella disciplina dell’obedience.

Si trasferisce con la famiglia in Australia, Perth, dove fonda l’allevamento Borderfame unendo le più antiche linee di sangue australiane provenienti dal rinomato allevamento Minimba, con linee di sangue inglesi e neozelandesi.

In pochissimo tempo diventa l’allevamento più conosciuto al mondo.
Io credo che tutto quello che è riuscita a creare, non sia stato solo frutto di duro lavoro nello studio delle linee di sangue, non sia stato dovuto alla casualità del trasferimento in Australia, o al fortunato incontro con grandi allevatori, sono certa delle sue grandi capacità ma, conoscendola, sono ancora più certa che lei abbia raggiunto e mantenuto tutto questo, grazie al suo meraviglioso cuore.

Questa grande donna aveva una dote speciale, un dono di Dio, aveva un amore infinito verso tutti.
Era un  “pozzo di scienza” nella conoscenza dei cani in generale e dei Border Collie in particolare. Conosceva tutto di loro perché condivideva tutto con loro.

Non esiste studio o allenamento che possano portare a risultati così elevati se non ci si mette “Heart & Soul” – cuore e anima.
La regola di base del suo lavoro è sempre, ovviamente, stata “Brains & Beauty” unita ad un eccezionale temperamento che ha reso i suoi cani i più versatili, in modo da poter essere cani felici in qualunque situazione.

Questo è amore per i cani, per questo ha fatto la storia della razza ed è diventata una pietra miliare, una musa ispiratrice per tutto il mondo dei Border Collie.

Helena era giudice di agility, obedience ed esposizione, ha giudicato praticamente in tutto il mondo, Australia, Inghilterra, America, Giappone, Nuova Zelanda, Italia, Finlandia e Germania.

Helena aveva tantissimi amici in tutto il mondo grazie al suo carattere estremamente allegro, al suo esilerante umorismo , ma soprattutto grazie all’amore che riusciva a trasmettere con uno sguardo, un sorriso o un forte abbraccio.

Ora il suo lavoro e i suoi insegnamenti non sono andati perduti, c’è una persona speciale che continua il suo grande lavoro,  un suo grande amico di cui lei aveva piena fiducia perché hanno condiviso una vita insieme.

Caro Robert, tutti noi riponiamo in te la stessa stima e fiducia di Helena, siamo certi che saprai portare avanti il suo lavoro  con impegno e amore, tutto questo non andrà mai perduto perché in ogni cane di Helena c’è un po’ di lei.

Talk about a friend who is no longer with us, it is not easy, because you are emotionally involved.

Helena Fitzgerald, born in Ireland, her passion for dogs emerges as a child, began, like many of us, practicing agility dog with her mestizo.

Then she knows the world of obedience due to her “rescue” German Shepherd. Recovering this difficult dog, with love and dedication, she gets the maximum results also in this discipline.

It is strange for me, tell her path, because I followed her own path; absurd randomness and coincidence that overlap without knowing each other and then, years later, lead to a great friendship.

After the loss of this great German Shepherd comes the first Border Collie, a “working sheep dog“, with which she obtained the best results in the discipline of obedience.

She moved with her family to Australia, Perth, where she founded the Borderfame breeding combining the oldest of Australian blood lines from renowned Munimbah breeding, with British and New Zealanders bloodlines.

In no time it becomes the world’s most popular Border Collies Kennel.
I believe that everything that she has managed to create, it was not only the result of hard work in the study of bloodlines, was not due to the transfer of randomness in Australia, or the lucky meeting with great breeders, are some of its great capacity but, knowing her, I am even more certain that she have achieved and maintained all this, thanks to her wonderful heart.

This great woman had a special gift, a gift of God, she had an infinite love toward all. She was a “Science Well” in the knowledge of dogs in general and the Border Collie in particular. She knew everything about them because she shared everything with them.

There is no study or training that can lead to results so high if we do not put “Heart & Soul“.

The basic rule of his work is always, of course, it was “Brains & Beauty” combined with an outstanding temperament that made her dogs are versatiles, so they can be happy dogs in any situation. This is love for dogs, she did the history of the breed and has become a landmark, a muse for the whole of the Border Collie world.

Helena was judge in agility, obedience and exhibition,  judging in all over the world, Australia, England, America, Japan, New Zealand, Italy, Finland and Germany.

Helena had many friends all over the world thanks to its extremely pleasant personality, her hilarious humor, but above all thanks to the love that she could convey with a look, a smile or a hug.

Now her work and her teachings were not lost, there is a special person who continues her great work, a great friend of which she had full confidence because they have shared a life together. Dear Robert, all of us we put in you the same respect and trust of Helena, we are confident that you will know to continue her work with commitment and love, it will never be lost because in each of Helena’s dogs ther is a bit  part of  her.
